I always figured that the discovery of superhumans could only go two or three main ways; you were either revered as Superman or like the Avengers, or you would be cast aside in fear fueled disgust by society...or you could be taken away and experimented on while the rest of the world moves on without you. The first bears the burden of responsibility. The latter two could become nothing but an everlasting nightmare.
