First Lines Friday #35

First Lines Friday #35

Happy Friday!!
After finally hatching my very first shiny (my favorite Pokemon: Shuppet, now a Banette!) I’ve rediscovered my love for Shining Pearl. I don’t get a lot of gaming hours in during the week, so my excitement for the weekend is only that much more today!

Today’s post: First Lines Friday!

First Lines Friday is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?

  • Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
  • Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
  • Finally… reveal the book!

(Click on the book covers for a link to their GoodReads page)

This week’s lines…

A thought sparked in the chaos of Bekker’s mind.
The Jury.
He caught it, mentally, like a quick hand snatching a fly from midair.

Enjoyed that preview? This week’s book is…

Silent Prey (Lucas Davenport Prey # 4) by John Sandford

Blurb

Dr. Mike Bekker, a psychotic pathologist, is back on the streets, doing what he does best-murdering one helpless victim after another. Lucas Davenport knows he should have killed Bekker when he had the chance. Now he has a second opportunity and the time to hesitate is through.
